Back to My Roots: Hannah & Joseph’s Playful Winter Garden Shoot

Some sessions just feel like a full-circle moment. This one? For sure. Shooting Hannah and Joseph on Plant Street in Winter Garden reminded me why I picked up a camera in the first place—to freeze real, joy-filled moments with the people who make your world feel like home.

Before I ever photographed a wedding or booked a session, I was that friend. The one always behind the camera, capturing the silly, the sweet, and the in-between. I took photography classes in high school and college, but it wasn’t until my daughter was born that I really leaned in. I didn’t want just any photos—I wanted to remember the way she looked at me, the chaos (heavy on this bit) and beauty of our everyday. And in chasing those moments, I realized… I wanted to do the same for everyone else, too.

Candid, Cozy, and Completely Them

Hannah and Joseph’s shoot felt like photographing old friends. Okay, that’s cheating…they’re actually my family, but you know what I mean. They showed up in matching Vans (yes, matching Vans—I can’t), coffees in hand from their favorite spot, and instantly fell into step with the energy I love most. We walked around downtown Winter Garden just as the golden light started to dip, laughing, moving, and letting the afternoon unfold naturally.

There’s a photo of Joseph kissing Hannah’s forehead, and every time I see it in the edit queue, I think: Yep. Nailed it. No stiff poses, no forced smiles—just the two of them being exactly who they are. That’s always my goal. Whether I’m shooting a couple, a family, or a wedding day, I don’t want statues. I want movement, connection, the little gestures that say everything without saying a word. That’s why I use prompting instead of posing—because real memories aren’t made in still frames.

Winter Garden: Small-Town Charm, Big-Time Heart

If you’ve never spent a day in Winter Garden, here’s your sign. There’s something magical about this place—from the old brick roads to the cozy shops and tucked-away corners that make the perfect photo backdrop. Every shoot I’ve done here feels like a mix of storybook charm and down-to-earth warmth, and I can’t get enough.

Which brings me to the very exciting part…

I’m Going to Be Around a Whole Lot More

My family is going to be spending more time in the Winter Garden area—and that means I’ll be available for more sessions down here! Whether you're looking for updated family photos, a cozy couples shoot, or something totally out of the box, I’d love to make some magic with you.

So if you’ve been thinking about booking a shoot in Central Florida, now’s the time. I’m ready with camera in hand and a few good prompts up my sleeve.

Let’s capture the kind of moments that make you say: That’s so us.
